A programme of workshops for organisations in emerging nuclear energy countries.

This series of five specialised workshops is designed for personnel in relevant organisations within countries that are intending to establish nuclear energy programmes.

The training utilises the IAEA’s Milestones approach for developing a national infrastructure for nuclear power and uses the framework as a central reference point to evaluate the development of policies, strategy, infrastructure, organisations, financing and funding mechanisms.

In combination, the workshops help develop a critical underpinning knowledge base that will be vital for government, organisations and bodies involved in developing emerging nuclear energy programmes.

The programme of workshops is as follows:

Workshop 1: Development of policies and strategies for radioactive waste and spent fuel management

Workshop 2: Costing and financing. Principles and costing radioactive waste and spent fuel management

Workshop 3: Radioactive waste and spent fuel management – organisational aspects

Workshop 4: Repository Development

Workshop 5: Course wrap up

Who would benefit from attending this course?

The training is designed for civil-servants, regulators, executives and managers within nuclear operators, government, NEPIOs and regulatory bodies in countries considering or are in the early stages of establishing nuclear energy as a component of their national energy strategy.
