All companies now want to be seen to be ‘green’. Net zero, carbon neutral, carbon off-set: these are all terms that companies use regularly and often with the intention of attracting positive PR while many are not genuinely trying to reduce their carbon footprint.
The benefits from green PR are enormous and will often enable a company to gain a market share over a rival. People are increasingly aware of it, however, and the law is changing. The Taxonomy Regulation seeks to define which activities are properly described as environmentally sustainable. It also sets out new legal measures to discourage ‘greenwashing’ and phoney claims.
